Powerserv. Maintenance done right.
Emergency Power Systems have rapidly evolved over the years, but maintenance and management practices of them seems to have lagged behind. At Powerserv we aim to set a new standard. Your EPS is a system consisting of many parts including generators and their fuel, exhaust and airflow systems, and electrical control and transfer equipment. These systems are required to sit stationary, constantly monitoring the status of your power supply, and when the power goes out they have to operate immediately and operate correctly the first time. Many parts of these systems require regular operation and monitoring to allow them the best chance to do this.
Diesel engines will fail if not run regularly.
Power switches will fail to operate if left too long. Items like batteries and heaters/hoses are consumables and must be replaced on a regular basis and before they fail. To manage this Powerserv operates a comprehensive Computerised Maintenance Management system. Not only do we regularly test your equipment to a high standard we record all details of your plant and track its maintenance history and status in a customised database. This system also allows us to keep up to date with your site specific requirements including inductions, access protocols, health and safety management and any other specific or regulatory requirements. By providing class leading systems that integrate all your requirements, active remote monitoring of your site, and predictive preventative maintenance we can provide the best opportunity for your EPS to function correctly when required.
A generator is made from three major and many minor components that require multiple skills.
1. A Diesel Engine. 2. An Electrical Alternator. 3. A Control system.
As well as: An electrical changeover system - A fuel system - An exhaust system - Remote monitoring interfaces - Airflow and sound attenuation systems
Canopies and enclosures - Anti-harm barriers - Signs and instructions
To maintain these systems you need both a diesel mechanic and an electrician with knowledge of alternators and control systems.
A generator technician receives training in all generator systems. He can recognise signs of trouble before they cause a breakdown and get things put right.
At Powerserv we have a range of technicians with cross-disciplinary training particular to the EPS industry.
We work with the client to assess the best level of maintenance and monitoring to suit their site, offering a broad range of plans from emergency response to full time maintenance systems.
Powerserv works with all critical infrastructure clients, we operate with private hospitals and DHB's, critical data centers, NZ Government and military installations, power providers, local government water and wastewater and many private sector clients.
We look forward to working with new clients to provide the right solution to keep you running when the power goes out.

Below we have projects that are near completion.
Under Carriage Reefer Generators
IGS & Powerserv work closely with transportation companies to assist them to modernise and maintain their critical fleet of undercarriage generators. With trucks always on the road and refrigeration is required 24/7 for long haulage trips around the country.
Water & Waste Water Plants
Your water and wastewater services are supported by pumping and processing stations all around the country. These must be kept up and working in a power outage. Powerserv is proud to work with councils and government throughout NZ to provide maintenance and support services to this sector.
National Maintainence
Powerserv works with DHB's across NZ. We monitor, maintain and provide assured emergency response to some of the biggest sites in the country. As well as DHBs we provide services to many private health institutions.
System Maintainance
Powerserv provide both maintenance and monitoring services for the NZFS. By categorising control centers and stations into levels of importance, and providing cost-effective maintenance to match these levels we assist the NZFS to maintain operational requirements even when the power is out.
